Raina’s paintings are inspired by memories of colour and imagery of places she has visited. She responds to the experience by focussing on the rhythms and patterns of the landscape rather than recording topography.
Through her exploration of colour and energetic gestural mark making, Raina intertwines invention with memories, creating emotive, semi abstract paintings.
Raina is inspired by artists such as Barbara Rae, David Hockney and Donald Hamilton Fraser.
Her training as an illustrator and career in greeting card design has also influenced the style of her work.
Raina studied illustration at Wimbledon School of Art and
went on to be Creative Director for Greeting Cards at Athena International.
She now creates her artwork from her studio in Radlett Hertfordshire.
